Promote pioneering role of foreign affairs

On June 30th, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs held a semi-online scientific seminar with the theme "Promote the pioneering role of foreign affairs, strengthen the comprehensive and modern diplomacy, and successfully implement the Resolution of the 13th Party Congress". The seminar was attended by the former leaders of the Party and State, representatives of the ministries and agencies, Vietnamese representative missions abroad, provinces and cities, researchers and businesses. It is a forum for discussion of the measures to effectively implement the foreign policy identified by the 13th Party Congress.
Opening the seminar, Mr. Bui Thanh Son, Minister of Foreign Affairs affirmed that Vietnam's foreign affairs had always been with the nation, served the country and the people and made many positive contributions to the innovation process of the country in the past 35 years. In the light of the foreign policy determined by the 13th Party Congress, Vietnam's foreign affairs will continue to promote its "pioneering role" in creating and maintaining a peaceful and stable environment, contributing to the construction and development of the country, step by step raising Vietnam’s position and prestige.
It is predicted that the major trends of the world in the coming period are peace, cooperation and development, revolution of industry 4.0, digital transformation, shift of the supply chain and investment flows, etc. Therefore, at the seminar, many participants have opinions that Vietnam has had basic favorable conditions with achievements, potential, position and prestige of the country for stronger development. This is also an important foundation for Vietnam's foreign affairs to continue making positive contributions to the cause of national construction and defense in the new situation. However, apart from the advantages, Vietnam will also have to face many changes and fluctuations in the region and the world, the increasing competition among big countries, challenges related to territorial sovereignty, non-traditional security issues, etc. The great impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic and the new world trends require Vietnam’s efforts to resolve.
Analyzing the new position and power of the country, the participants of the seminar made recommendations for realization of the comprehensive and modern diplomacy and promotion of the pioneering role of foreign affairs. Being very honored to be one of the four Departments of Foreign Affairs in the whole country (Binh Dinh, Lang Son, Vinh Phuc and Tien Giang) chosen to give comments to the seminar, Mr. Nguyen Thai Binh, Director of Binh Dinh Department of Foreign Affairs delivered a speech with the topic "How to effectively link the local foreign affairs effectiveness with that of the whole country". Many achievements of the local foreign affairs in recent years were mentioned and to effectively link the local foreign affairs effectiveness with that of the whole country, in addition to the efforts made and effective application of the guidelines and policies of the Party and the laws of the State, the provinces and cities really need timely assistance of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and central agencies not only in terms of expertise, information, development orientation, etc. but also stability, good policies and a full legal system related to the foreign affairs. On that occasion, he also made some proposals and recommendations to the relevant authorities for promotion of the local foreign affairs role and effectiveness as the focal points, extended arms of the Central Government in the localities.
The comments and in-depth exchange information given at the seminar contribute to the detailing of the major goals and tasks and development of strategies and plans in each field, with each partner in the coming period.
