Third Congress of Binh Dinh Union of Friendship Organizations, the 2020-2025 tenure held

On the morning of November 26th, 2020 in Quy Nhon city, the third Congress of Binh Dinh Union of Friendship Organizations for the 2020-2025 tenure was officially held to review the activities in the 2015-2020 tenure and work out the orientations and tasks for the next one. The Congress was attended by Ms. Nguyen Phuong Nga, Secretary of the Party Committee and President of Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations; Mr. Doan Van Phi, member of the Standing Bureau of the Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Council; Mr. Nguyen Tuan Thanh, member of the Standing Bureau of the Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee; Ms. Nguyen Thi Phong Vu, member of the Standing Bureau of the Provincial Party Committee, head of the Commission for Mass Mobilization of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairwoman of the Provincial Vietnamese Fatherland Front Committee; the leaders of the departments, agencies of the province; the leaders of the Unions of Friendship Organizations of the provinces in the Central region and the Central Highlands and the delegates of Vietnam - Laos Friendship Association, Vietnam - Japan Friendship Association, Vietnam - Korea Friendship Association, Vietnam - New Zealand Friendship Association and Vietnam - Cambodia Friendship Association.
In the 2015-2020 term, Binh Dinh Union of Friendship Organizations (BUFO) and its member associations implemented the Resolution adopted at its second Congress with many significant results, contributing to the improvement of the people’s external activities. It carried out the exchange, peace, solidarity, friendship activities in various forms in accordance with each topic, content of high publicity and education, notably a series of activities in the "Nurturing friendship" programme for the Laotian students studying in the province, the French singing Festival for the provinces in the Central region and the Central Highlands.
BUFO in collaboration with the Department of Foreign Affairs mobilized the foreign non-governmental aid for the urgent areas, which provided support for the Agent Orange victims and the poor in the districts in difficult conditions, positively contributing to hunger eradication and poverty reduction, social security, socio-economic development of the localities. It frequently bettered its organization and improved the capacity of its standing body and member organizations; enhanced activities of exchange and shared experience in the people’s foreign affairs.
At the Congress, Diplomas of Merit of Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations were awarded to many collectives and individuals and those of the Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee to the collectives of Binh Dinh Union of Friendship Organizations and the provincial Vietnam - Laos Friendship Association that have recorded the outstanding achievements in the people’s foreign affairs in the 2015-2020 tenure.
The Congress elected a new Executive Committee with 32 members. Mr. Mai Thanh Thang, former member of the Standing Bureau of the Provincial Party Committee, former Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee, Chairman of BUFO, term II in the 2015-2020 period was re-elected the Chairman of BUFO, term III in the 2020-2025 period.
