Vice Chairman Nguyen Huu Que receives Indian Consul General in Ho Chi Minh City
On the morning of January 28, 2026, at the Provincial People's Committee headquarters, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Huu Que received Mr. Vipra Pandey, Consul General of India in Ho Chi Minh City, on the occasion of his attendance at the Inauguration Ceremony of the India Corner at Quy Nhon University. The reception was attended by representatives from the Provincial People's Committee Office, the Departments of Foreign Affairs; Finance; Industry and Trade; Culture, Sports and Tourism, and Quy Nhon University.

Speaking at the reception, the Vice Chairman stated that in 2025, Viet Nam implemented a nationwide revolution to streamline the administrative apparatus and operate a two-tiered local government model on the largest scale ever, reducing the number of provinces and cities from 63 to 34. Meanwhile, Binh Dinh and Gia Lai provinces were merged to form a new province named Gia Lai. Currently, the province has the second largest natural area in the country with a relatively complete transportation and logistics infrastructure system, creating favorable conditions for connections in regions and around the world. The province also has 3 universities, 5 university branches, and 21 vocational training institutions, thus providing nearly 40,000 highly skilled and qualified workers annually.
Regarding attracting foreign investment, the province has 6 Indian investment projects with a total registered capital of nearly USD 8.3 million out of a total of 111 FDI projects with a total registered capital of over USD 2.7 billion. Mr. Nguyen Huu Que expressed the gratitude for the support of the Indian Government and Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City to Gia Lai province in investment and trade promotion, as well as in implementing social welfare programs and projects in the province over the past time.
Furthermore, the inauguration of the India Corner at Quy Nhon University library is also a testament to the efforts to strengthen cultural and academic exchanges, contributing to the promotion of friendly relations and cooperation between Gia Lai province and India.
During the meeting, Indian Consul General Vipra Pandey congratulated Viet Nam on the success of its government streamlining revolution and expressed confidence that with the new government model, Viet Nam would develop faster and stronger in the future.
Highly appreciating the results of cooperation between India and Viet Nam in general, and between India and Gia Lai province in particular, Mr. Vipra Pandey suggested some areas that could promote cooperation in the future, such as high-tech agriculture, renewable energy, digital transformation, education and training, tourism and more. He also stated that he would continue to pay attention to and connect major Indian investors to the province to explore cooperation opportunities; and strengthen the promotion of the image of the land, people, and culture of Gia Lai province, contributing to the development of tourism in the future.
