Gia Lai Department of Foreign Affairs Holds Working Session with the Standing Office of Yongsan District (Republic of Korea)
On the afternoon of January 27th, 2026, at the headquarters of Gia Lai Province Department of Foreign Affairs, a working session was held with the Standing Office of Yongsan District (Republic of Korea) located in Quy Nhon Ward, to exchange views on bilateral cooperation in the coming period.
The meeting was chaired by Mr. Tran Dinh Hiep, Director of Gia Lai Department of Foreign Affairs, with the participation of representatives of the People’s Committee of Quy Nhon Ward and relevant leaders and officials of the Department. At the meeting, the two sides discussed the re-signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on cooperation between the Government of Yongsan District and Gia Lai Province, since inheriting the cooperation framework previously established between Yongsan District and Quy Nhon City, in line with the reorganization of administrative units and the provincial-level scope of cooperation.
Based on the friendly cooperative relationship established between Quy Nhon City (formerly under Binh Dinh Province prior to the administrative merger) and Yongsan District, Seoul (Republic of Korea), the two sides have signed and implemented cooperation programs since 1996, focusing on cultural exchange, education, and people-to-people exchanges. In order to enhance coordination efficiency and maintain regular connectivity, the Standing Office of Yongsan District in Quy Nhon was established in 2016 and has operated stably, serving as a focal point for the implementation of cooperation activities at the local level, including free Korean language training programs and community exchange activities. Building on the solid cooperative foundation developed over many years, following the reorganization of administrative units, Gia Lai Province will continue to inherit and further develop the cooperative relationship with Yongsan District, towards re-signing a Memorandum of Understanding in line with the new administrative structure and cooperation orientations in the new period.
At the meeting, the Yongsan District side proposed that the re-signing ceremony of the Memorandum of Understanding be organized in early April 2026 and suggested adjusting and expanding the scope of cooperation in a more comprehensive manner, including economic cooperation, culture, arts, and tourism, to meet cooperation needs in the new context.
In addition, the two sides exchanged views on the plan to organize charitable activities by the Saemaul Association of Jincheon (North Chungcheong Province, Republic of Korea) in Gia Lai Province in March 2026, focusing on community support and environmental improvement in the areas affected by natural disasters. The Standing Office of Yongsan District indicated that an official written proposal would be sent to Gia Lai Department of Foreign Affairs as a basis for submitting to the Provincial People’s Committee for consideration in accordance with regulations.
Furthermore, Yongsan District side proposed that Gia Lai Province continue to pay attention to and coordinate in supporting visa procedures for the officials of the Standing Office currently working in the locality, as well as a new teacher sent from the King Sejong Institute, thereby contributing to the stable and effective implementation of Korean language training and exchange activities.
Based on the issues discussed, Gia Lai Department of Foreign Affairs will continue to closely coordinate with the Standing Office of Yongsan District, receive specific proposals from the office, and propse Provincial People’s Committee in accordance with current regulations.
