Chairman Pham Anh Tuan receives New Zealand Deputy Head of Mission in Viet Nam
On the afternoon of June 10, 2025, at the Provincial People's Committee Headquarters, Mr. Pham Anh Tuan - Chairman met with Ms. Rebecca Wood, Deputy Head of New Zealand Embassy in Viet Nam. Attending the meeting were also representatives of leaders of relevant departments and agencies.
At the reception, Mr. Pham Anh Tuan - Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee expressed his pleasure to welcome Ms. Rebecca Wood, Deputy Head of New Zealand to Viet Nam to Binh Dinh province for the first time; and he highly appreciated the long-term and effective cooperation between the two sides in the past time, especially in the fields of agriculture and health. The Chairman said that in the coming time, Binh Dinh province and Gia Lai province would merge into the new Gia Lai province and was expected to prioritize the development of industrial and fruit tree planting areas along with the development of service sectors, logistics, urban areas, etc.; at the same time, focusing on economic development associated with ensuring social security and welfare to continuously improve the material and spiritual life of the people. Discussing the direction of cooperation between the new Gia Lai province and the New Zealand Embassy in Viet Nam, he hoped that the Embassy would continue to pay attention to and support programs and projects on health (such as exchanging experiences in medical examination and treatment; supporting equipment for hospitals, etc.), education (such as training and improving foreign language skills for the province's civil servants) and irrigation development (supporting investment in reservoirs and dams).

For her part, Ms. Rebecca Wood thanked the warm welcome of the provincial leaders and departments of the province. She was impressed by the natural beauty of Binh Dinh province and said that she would return here and travel with her family. The Deputy Head expressed that this visit took place in a special context, when the Vietnam - New Zealand relationship was recently upgraded to Comprehensive Strategic Partnership during the official visit to the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam by Mr. Christopher Luxon - Prime Minister of New Zealand in February 2025. In Binh Dinh, the cooperation between New Zealand and Binh Dinh province is highlighted by the Binh Dinh Safe Vegetable Project, which has created sustainable rural livelihoods; connected agricultural products to markets; improved food safety for consumers; brought health and environmental benefits; and created a premise for Binh Dinh province to continue expanding the production of safe vegetables in particular and clean agricultural products in general. In addition, the cooperation support activities from the New Zealand - Viet Nam Health Trust, especially in the fields of Neonatal, Hematology and Orthopedics, have contributed to improving the quality of medical examination and treatment; helping local medical staff improve their professional capacity through direct and indirect training courses...
She pledged to promote more practical cooperation projects and programs for Binh Dinh province during her term.
